Near Mont Saint Michel
Along the route da la baie (the D976 road leading to the Mont) you will find the "Reptilarium du Mont Saint Michel", which houses 200 crocodiles, alligators, lizards and snakes and 300 tortoises in both indoor and outdoor enclosures.
The indoor display has been designed very much with youngsters in mind. The glass displays have tunnels underneath which pop-up into re-enforced glass domes in the centre of the reptiles, which offer an amazing close-up view of every snake and lizard! There are ladders to climb to view the climbing reptiles and suspension bridges over the caymens and alligators.
Outside are many small enclosures full of tiny baby tortoises and guinea pigs and a large enclosure where it is possible to stroke the giant tortoises. During the winter though they are unavailable due to hibernation.
There is a picnic area, a shop and toilets and it is suitable for visitors with limited mobility.
The Reptilarium is open all year round (weekends only in January):
Opening times: 10am until 7pm in the summer and 2pm until 6pm in the winter (Sept - April).
