The 5-day Bayonne festival of bull-fighting and Basque tradition

This Basque festival has been taking place in Bayonne every year since 1932.
It is held every August in the town of Bayonne with a special day for the children.

During the five-day event, around a million people dressed in the traditional attire (white trousers, white shirt, red scarf) visit the small town, whose native population is just 40,000.

Visitors can join in the street party, watch folk dancing and Bandas concerts, Landaise cow racing, indulge in Basque gastronomic specialities and watch the bullfights, held during the weekend in Les Arènes.

The only condition in order to really join in, is to be dressed in the traditional white and wear a red scarf around your neck!
